"HE WHO SEEKS OUR LORE / WILL SET US FREE / AND WILL BE BROUGHT BY DEGREES / TO SEE THE WORLD ROAR"

- Book of The Gallowers

---

A tense, DOS-themed dungeon-crawler about mythical abominations, the occult book they wrote, and permanent bleeding.

Created in ~36 hours for Global Game Jam 2020.

An investigator examines an occult book written and smuggled into our world by ancient criminals banished to The Underground. In doing so, the words bring one of those criminals, now a mythical abomination known as The Last Leviathan, back into the physical world.

This starts a race against time, as the investigator must now balance between repairing his body, escaping the monster, and finding the exit from the hellish maze he stumbled into.

I gave the game a try and while there's potential in the game, there should be a few more additions into the game to make it more interesting. Mainly a randomizer for the exit portal. Beyond that, it's a decent game for the time period that was given.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont

As you mentioned in your comment, the game was indeed made for a jam and we had a very limited time period. Still happy you played it and completed it (more than once!).

You’re right about randomization - we had bigger ambitions, including more elaborate items, aggressive monster behavior, and yeah, randomized exits and even entire levels. A lot had to be cut for time and rebalanced at the last minute. There are plans to expand the game a bit further now that the jam’s over and add all the features we couldn’t implement during the event. Thanks for giving out those additional pointers :)

Thank you so much for reviewing. This was indeed made in a very short time (36 hours) by a team of 2 people. We plan on adding level randomization, more mechanics, items, level art and of course polish. Would love for you to try it again on our next version!
