A downloadable burial for Windows, macOS, and Linux

It was a simple job. None of us wanted to do it. Someone had to.

It hurt, yes. But it is the only way we can keep them out.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

A short, low-res, first person point & click thriller created in 5 days for Scream Jam 2021.

There are zero jumpscares, though the game's general audio mix leans on the loud side.

Also, if you experience any crashes, know that your progress was saved; just relaunch the game. You should find yourself in a similar spot.

Estimated playtime: 5-10 minutes.

Install instructions

Unzip and launch the What We Had To Do executable.

Press ESC in-game to adjust mouse sensitivity and brightness settings.

The game does not support 32-bit systems. Also, the Mac and Linux versions are untested. If you experience problems, please use a Windows VM or wrapper.

Lol, yup. That’s the sort of compromise one has to take to make sure players can find a puzzle item in a low-res, high-FOV game

This is by far my favourite horror game I've played on this platform so far. The sound design, story and the thing you did with the crash. I really liked how picking up the gun had "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK" all over it lol

omg this graphic is the best

Gave it a Let's Play

I see what you did there.

Great game!

Awesome graphics and smooth gameplay. A 7-minute gameplay. Burn trees and dead guy in a loop but in different years. A gun can be summon later at the end. Overall great game!

Very interesting story.
